Last year, we were the leader of the fundraising for the Atlanta region and were proud to learn that NILMDTS raised $ 164,775, we thank everyone who contributed last year to our models and encourage your participation this year! We believe that we can provide a helping hand and healing heart for the lost. With your help, we hope to be able to raise even more funds this year.

Hailey's 8 week session

We had a wonderful session last week with Hailey, she just turned 2 months old, and she sure moved alot for a 8 week old baby. We were able to get some nice images, posting a few to share with the blog! Hailey was sure a little lady and knew how to trick us with her smile. She would stop smiling once our camera was on, and smiled again when it was off. We got some good shots of her, just had to be quick. At the end of the session, Hailey "blessed" the pedestal while we were getting the last shots of the session of her sleeping. Sure baby Hailey gave all of us a big laugh.

Joli's 1 year session

We had Joli and her sister Elli(she has to be in the action) in for Joli's 1 year session a few weeks ago, and had a great time with our "mini" celebration of Joli's 1 year birthday. Here are some of the images :)We made a real cake for Joli(as you could see)she wasn't so sure at first, and then just dove in for some action. Once it was over Elli asked if there was any left for her.. We weren't sure if we should after the smashing and kicking the cake, but her mom approved.

Charlie's Baptism

On the morning of August 2nd , Noi and I hurried to get out of bed as our alarm went off. We looked into the kids rooms and they all slept so soundly. I hated to wake them up this early, but this day was an important day for our family. God has blessed the Hoffman home, as our son Charlie was going to baptized. After we got ready, it was the girls turn... Charlie was still sleeping. Jaycee woke up first, she was pretty much an early person and she always is quick. On the another hand, Nikky took a little time to wake up. We managed to get everyone out of the door by 9am. With out a second thought, I grabbed the camera bag, Noi grabbed the baptism gown, and diaper bag. We headed to the car, then Noi ran back in the house... Poor Charlie, he was sleeping still. Noi lifted him up and saw his eyes open "we'll change everything in the car"!

We arrived at church at exactly 9:15am, It was enough time for us to settle down and head to the service which started at 9:30am. Not that I had never thought of it, but this time, I really felt that God blessed us with a wonderful day. The starting of the hymn was so wonderful, Noi and I were enjoying the music and movement in the church. After the story time, Dr.Mike Long, the senior minister called us and the baptism began. It was such a wonderful moment, as we saw family and friends there to witness the baptism. Charlie did so well. We were a little worried about him, as he normally didn't do well with anyone, except Noi. That morning, he looked so relaxed, and happy. It was like the church was his home and people there was his family, I do really feel that way!!!!. I was caught off guard when Mike mentioned to the crowd that "Mom and dad wanted everyone to know that Charlie is wearing his sisters gown, but he is all boy" I know, we broke a smile. He was so interested in everything during the baptism, to include the baptismal fountain water and kept looking at them. Nikky and Jaycee were with us in the service to witness their brother as well. They did so well, especially Nikky! I was so proud of all my children. I would love to thank all my family and friends, anyone, who was there in the church to witness this special day of Charlie's life. Last but not least, Thanks to Erik Palmquist who took the images of the baptism on short notice, I'm truly grateful to him for that.

Jaycee bakes her own giant cookie

Time flies, Jaycee has turned 4. I was planning to write about her special birthday party, but I think this blog is going to be an interesting for anyone who reads it. Prior to her birthday, she kept telling me that she wanted to do a giant chocolate chip cookie for her birthday. I know the reason!!! We did a giant cookie for Nikky's 5th Birthday, and I spent time baking with Nikky, and she really enjoyed doing them. I think Jaycee saw the fun of it, and she didn't want to miss out on the fun that Nikky had. I told her that we would do it. Jaycee got all excited and couldn't wait for her turn!

I told Noi that we will have to do the cookie cake for Jaycee this year. Noi had a better idea for for Jaycee's cookie. "I want to make this cake special for Jaycee", Noi said and she made a phone call. She then came back to me with a great smile, "Jaycee will be spending a quality time doing a giant cookie cake with Grammie B"! Noi decided to contact Mrs. Linda Bishop whom truly respect like my mom. Mom B is my close friend from Boy Scouts who had been a great support in my life. I was so happy that Jaycee got to spend time with her, who I used to spend time at their home when I was a teenager.

That morning, Jaycee got up so early, and got herself ready for cookie day. She also got her own apron ready. It was apparent that it was a happy day for Jaycee. Thanks Mom B for doing this for her! They both were so good team, as Jaycee had been a good listener and followed every step. She also learn the word "Stiff" for the dough. She learned how to measure flour, sugar and etc. Nikky on the other hand, was so well behaved for not interrupting her sister, and she told Noi that she would love to do a "pizza cake" for her birthday. We'll definitely beg Mom B to help her dream come true.

At the end of Jaycee's baking lesson, the girls were so excited to see the end result. Jaycee was running back and forth to the kitchen, and make sure she didn't miss out the cookie. One the cookie was done, I managed to take some shots of Jaycee. Charlie, I bet he was interested as well. He attempted to reach the small cookie, but we were faster than him. The next day, I brought Jaycee back again to decorate. This time we had Elli with us, and the girls did some chocolate tasting. I couldn't ask for a happier moment for Jaycee birthday this year! Happy Birthday Jaycee, We love you!

1 year old session- Alik

Alik is back in our studio again for his 1 yr old session. We have had Alik in since birth and his Mom and Dad in for a Maternity session as well. Alik has really grown since that 1st session when he was less than 2 weeks old. This time he is fast as can be. He seems to like our camera more than all the tricks we can do to get him to stay in position. His Dad is always willing to get involved in the sessions, George has always been a great help for us, to get Alik in the right mood :). A fast shutter was key in capturing Alik's expressions. I was a little concerned when his mom was holding my baby Charlie, as to make Alik jealous and not cooperate with us. To our surprise, he is sweet boy, his mom holding Charlie didn't really bother him at all. He was just happy and entertaining himself and just want to touch everything. We are always happy to have The Cotton family in for sessions, and look forward to his baptism to be able to capture this event for The Cottons.

Summer Vacation 2009 - , Little Pee Dee State Park and Myrtle Beach, SC

Since last year, with Noi being pregnant, and basement remodeling, we didn't have time to go to anywhere. This year, Noi told me that, we would go some place for vacation, definitely "someplace". To keep her sanity with kids being off school, I told her to come up with the ideas... Well, our plans had changed constantly. Finally, Noi came out with the conclusion that we would go to the beach this year. Sounds like a plan. The girls would love it since they were looking forward to building sand castles.
I then picked up the phone call and contacted RV resort at Myrtle beach for the 4th of July week. Dang...no campsites for the 4th of July, so I reserved on July 5. Again with our last minute plans, we decided that we would leave for MB 2 days earlier. I told Noi that we could camp at "Little Pee Dee State Park", which is well known for a river fishing and finally got a site there. We were so ready for a vacation! On the morning of July 4th, Noi and I took the girls fishing. Nikky and Jaycee both have their own fishing pole. Nikky suggested that we use hotdog as bait (that's what she learned from Gee Gee- her grandmother), then she told Jaycee to spit on the hotdog, so we would catch some fish (again, she learned from her Gee Gee(my mom) and her cousin, Kenny.... and "no", it is not a Hoffman thing.) I was so proud of her, as she being able to cast. We were waiting for a while, Jaycee started to get bored. Charlie was taking a nap in the stroller and Nikky still waited, hoping to get a fish. Unfortunately, I think the "hotdog' deal won't work for SC fish! When evening came, we left to watch the fireworks! The girls had fun! This year our 4th of July fireworks view was the best view ever.!! The next morning we left "little Pee Dee State park" and headed to Myrtle beach.

We arrived at Myrtle Beach at 1pm , hung out for a while and went out to check out the area and had dinner at Seafood Buffet (Noi & I swear that we would never go back again) It was good however, these seafood buffets would don't get along with us, as the majority of us have allergies to shellfish. The following day, we decided to go to the seafood market, Noi bought some fish and we grilled them(Noi's recipe) Speaking about the campground, Noi and I were impressed. This is a kid friendly campground. The had alot of activities including a Scavenger Hunt(which the girls found everything inside our Suburban :) ) Our site was just 100 feet away from the ocean. The girls had fun running thru the small wave, building sand castles, fishing, flying kites, and collecting seashells. Even Charlie enjoyed the sand...he even got to taste it..ha, ha, I wish I would of captured that moment when Charlie was face first in the sand. Noi and I were too worried about him that we didn't even think about capturing this moment. The highlight of this summer trip is the happiest time for me, when I saw Nikky take off on her bike without training wheels. That's my girl!!! and I'm sure Jaycee will not be far behind.

Family visit with Aunt and Uncles from Michigan

This day was a great day for our family. We drove to Lake Lanier to the houseboat to meet my aunts & uncles from Michigan. Uncle Tony and Uncle Jerry are my dad's brothers and it was great to see the brothers together and for the girls to meet them. This summer at houseboat, Nikky is into fishing, as she almost caught a fish (it got loose since her fishing pole is not strong enough).

At the boat,the girls were ready for swimming once they got to the houseboat, changed into their swimsuits and got their life jackets on. Charlie and Noi were just chillin in the boat watching all of us floating on the water. In the evening time, Jaycee was telling Noi that she would love to go for a "doughnut ride". Noi was puzzled until she pointed that the doughnut ride was actually tubing. Noi and I were concerned about Jaycee as she might be scared during the ride. To our surprise, she was having a greatest time ever!!! We could see her smile from a distance, and was so proud of her. She had a blast!!!! Thanks to her cousins, Tory & Kenzi, they did a great job helping her hold tight to the tube. From that time, she kept asking to go again and again... Nikky also went for a "doughnut ride" after saying that she wouldn't go for a while....I guess she couldn't resist the ride after seeing Jaycee having a fun time. Nikky also had her own quiet time, she was alone after dinner, fishing by herself. She was using the left over garlic bread as bait, hoping that the crunchy bread would make the fish easier to catch :)

It was good to see my aunts and uncles visiting us in GA. I felt like we were having a small family reunion. The girls get to meet my cousin, Patrick and enjoyed playing with him. I couldn't ask for a better summer family reunion!

1st Camping trip of summer 2009

Our 1st summer of 2009 camping vacation was Jellystone campground. We were happy that our friend Allen & Shirley, and their 2 yr old boy, Naiden joined us during this camping. We didn't know what to expect at this campground since it was the 1st time. I would say that's good. The 1st day of camping, the kids met with Yogi Bear and had a hay ride, while Noi and Charlie were having quality time alone. I was happy to see the girls happy faces, especially Jaycee. She loved to hug Yogi!. One of the other things I loved about this campground is activities for kids. The girls kept asking to go to the miniature golf at the campground..... 9 holes. They did pretty good!!!

During the camping, we spent time visiting Galinburg and Pigeon Forge. We also did Miniature Golf while we were in Pigeon Forge, it was a full 18 holes, Noi managed to play with Charlie sleeping in the Baby Bjorn. The girls loved playing, they were also worn out, so that was great for Noi and I. The last night, the kids had a surprise visitor!!! The kids were a little disappointed that they did not get to do the hayride with the Yogi again. Yogi was on the loose and we found him visiting us at our site. The kids had fun at the trip. Best of all, Noi and I were so glad that the kids had learned a lot from each camping trip. I was happy to see every smile, We loved the campsite especially because of the natural beauty, it had a large stream running directly behind, which gave us natural noise whenever we were there. We were all happy campers!! except when I see Noi spraying too much bug spray on the kids :)

Naiden's 3 yr session

We had Naiden in for his 3 year session, at the beginning of the month, and he sure is fast, We had a great time capturing Naiden. He is active and fast, which kept us hopping.. We did capture him sitting still for a short while :) The chicken was the tool that kept Naiden still :)

Molly's 3 year old session

Session with 5 month old Brady Crowson

We had a session with 5 month old Brady Crowson. His family traveled from the Chicago area to visit their relatives in the Atlanta area, and scheduled a Spring Session.  He started out a little grumpy  because he woke up when he arrived at the studio.  We had a chance to chat with the Crowsons a little so that  Brady had a chance  to calm down, and to "chat" with Charlie(our 4 month old) They were looking at each  another, thinking, who is this other baby?  It was so funny to see them  staring at each other.  I would say the session went great with everyone,  Thank you to Brady's Mom & Dad, they all stepped up to help Brady have a great session.  We are  glad to meet the Crowson family and looking forward to seeing them again soon.

Desoto State Park trip

Monday - Apr 6.

We arrived at Desoto State Park around afternoon. The kids were excited to meet their friends, John, Alex. Eric, Hanna and Haley. It was cold and rainy that evening. Kids were were wearing the jackets and were playing outdoors, while Noi and Charlie were staying inside our camper (enjoyed the heat) I was having a good time chatting with friends. We were told that we were having snow the next day.

Tuesday, Apr 7.

There was a bit of snow in the morning. Luckily our plan for the day was to visit the US space center in Huntsville. It was a couple hour drive to the space center; kids were excited, especially they were riding with our friend Cristy since they could watch a DVD. Noi and Charlie stayed behind at the campground, while the girls and I were out. When we arrived at the space center, Nikky and Jaycee loved looking at all the rockets and the little machine where your penny is turned into a Space Center souvenir really thrilled them. :) We saw the 3d Movie about Mars, which wasn't all that good, so Cristy got us into the IMAX, so that all worked out..

Wednesday April 8

On Wednesday we hiked down to Little River Canyon, where everyone had a great time hiking down to the river, but hiking up was a little tougher :) All the kids had a great time wading ( or falling in, in the case of Nikky) And Charlie had a great time sleeping for the most with Noi carrying him :) Lady did real well but her age started to show as she slowed down toward the end.

Thursday April 9

We hiked in Desoto State park on some of the trails, which wasn't as hard as the Canyon hike, but had alot of good scenery.. Nikky stayed ahead most of the day with the bigger kids, and Jaycee stayed behind with Noi and Charlie. We managed to get a family picture taken at one of the bridges. This was a long trail for younger kids, 3.5 miles, Jaycee did real well with the directions as the trail is color coated. We stopped along the way for a lunch break, and the kids had a chance to play in the water a little.. Weather was wonderful and a good time was had by all :)

Hanna's First Communion Session

We had Hanna in for her First Communion session last Saturday. She was very excited to be in for her session, and Noi and I tried to make her feel right at home and we promised her, once we took some nice images for her, that she could take some goofy outtakes, so here are few of her images, she did real good. We also have an outtake since we promised.. Notice she can't let go of the flowers even in the outakes :) We are very happy that they trusted us with capturing a once in a lifetime experience, Hanna's First Communion.

Reese's 1 year old session outtakes

Noi and I had a great time taking 1yr old Reese's & her sister Kylie's images, while we work on the session images, I figured we would add some outtakes to enjoy :) Reese didn't really get along with the bunny, but LOVED the eggs, and loved to count, and put in the basket. On the other hand Kylie LOVES the bunnies, and feed eggs to the bunnies.. Reese was grumpy later on until she got her milk from mom, no, starving our clients isn't a part of the policy :) at the end of the session we were glad that both sisters were happy with the bunnies and eggs, and the bunnies are all still in one piece after experience with Kylie & Reese :)

9 month session with Owen

It has been really good to see Owen's progress since his birth till now at 9 months old. We were told by his mom that Owen has an ear-infection and he might melt down anytime. I would say this was the fastest and challenging session as we were trying to keep him from a melt down, as well as be fast with the shutter to capture him. Our little client will be a toddler soon. He sure is a fast mover, like a busy bee. Toward the end of the session, we managed to get his big brother into the image, with the promise of just "1" picture, and actually several "ones"

Noi and I really enjoyed the session with the boys. We were so impressed of Owen being so cooperative, and Ethan was so well-behaved(we didn't even have to pull out our bribery"candy" at all.) Ahhhh, a great end to the day!

Spring Like Day Session with the kids

Meador Family Valentine's Session

Since we have had a lot of requests to see our Valentine’s card, so I thought we should give a little story about the Meador Family. Jenna, the baby girl was born 2 days after our son Charlie, so when they get a little older Charlie will have a little friend to play with. :) Their session was about a week before Valentine's Day. We first took Jenna since she was in a happy mood and she seemed to be a daddy's girl (she smiled every time daddy spoke) after a few shots we had the boys, Jackson & Jacob join her for shots of all the kids. They cooperated well during the shoot....of course with the promise that we would give them a lollipop (no matter what anyone tells me, bribery works ;)LOL.

We got a good family shot without a hitch, so Noi grabbed the bassinet and a Valentine's Teddy bear. She positioned everything in place, and said "hurry, Jenna is not gonna last much longer” Poor Jenna we had been having her in all of the shots.. For more than 30 mins straight. She needed mommy now. So, finally, we got the shot. And it was a nice session with the Meador family. A good time was had by all.

Charlie's 3 month session

Finally Charlie is 3 months old, we had his "mini" 3 month session right at midnight on March 6th. This is the best time as the girls are sleeping, and Charlie is in a good mood this time of night.... First, Noi gets his favorite outfit with his hat, then we get some more shots, and then he seems to give us the look" hey, I thought this was just a few" then we stripped his clothes, (except diaper)

Then she stripped that off also, and he loved that!!, but we had to be quick or we may have had to wash the backdrop :) lolEnjoy the session pics, outdoor session coming soon.

Snow Day in Georgia

Nikky & Jaycee have been asking us "When are we going to see snow" I think almost every day, Noi and I had gotten to the point of telling them that we wouldn't see any until next year( and we would need to go somewhere up north to find any), Well, late last week I heard we had a chance of snow. I didn't mention this to the kids, until we were in Church(and I saw the snow on the radar :) )

So this is our little "Snow Day" in Georgia :)

Saturday Afternoon at the Bowling Alley

Is your child America's Cutest Kid???

JN Hoffman Photography is participating in the National Charity Model Search to select “America’s Cutest Kid” and to raise funds for charity.

We’re looking for cute children ages 18 months to 14 years old to model for a portrait to be entered into the contest.

Models Search Special:
$30 entrance fee, which includes a 30 minute model session, one image submitted to the national gallery and one 8x10 of the model comp card submission.

Finalists will be determined by online votes. Anyone may vote. Each vote is $1, and all proceeds from votes benefit the non-profit Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep. (NILMDTS.org)
Grand prize national winner will be determined from the 50 city finalists. Winners selected by photography and modeling industry experts.

If your child is selected the national winner, you’ll receive many prizes, including a $5,000 US Savings Bond and a Canon PowerShot G10 digital camera.
